The 2019 BET Awards Nominations Are In! Cardi B And Drake Come Out On Top

The B.E.T Awards are headed back to L.A for its 18th Annual award show, honoring the biggest acts in black entertainment. Cardi B leads the pack of nominees with 7 for her debut album ‘Invasion of Privacy’, including Best Female Hip-Hop Artist and Album of the Year.

Drake didn’t fall too far behind with 5 nominations and Beyoncé, J. Cole and Travis Scott share a three-way tie with four nominations each, respectively.

In the film and sports categories, ”BlacKkKlansman,” ”Creed II,” ”If Beale Street Could Talk,” ”Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse,” and ”The Hate U Give” received nominations this year for Best Movie while LeBron James and Serena Williams are up for Sportsman/Sportswoman of The Year Awards.

Executive Vice President and Head of Programming at BET, Connie Orlando, said in an official press release, “18 years ago we launched the BET Awards, and since then we have celebrated cool in ways that can’t be duplicated elsewhere. From Michael Jackson and James Brown busting dance moves together to Monique paying homage to Beyoncé in an unforgettable dance number to BET reuniting the Fugees we have set the tone for what cool looks like. This year we are even more so committed to continuing to create the unforgettable moments that have made the BET Awards the preeminent celebration of black culture.“
