Baller Alert, Baller Alert, Baller Alert! Welcome back to another episode of the Baller Alert Show. In this episode, the cast is joined by ATL Jacob, who talks about having three kids weeks apart, breaking up with Kali, and the process of making Wait For U.
“What was it like for you growing up? I really want to know your story,” asked Ferrari.
“My neighborhood was lit. Everybody grew up over there. Ciara, Keri Hilson, Pastor Troy, Playboi Carti and Huncho,” said ATL Jacob. “I just talked to Lil Baby the other day, and he was like yeah, I remember you used to be bad as hell.”
“You were in the band; what instrument did you play?” asked Ferrari.
“I started out on Alto Sax, then I did French Horn for a year, then I went over to full percussion,” said ATL Jacob.
“Were you always into music growing up? asked BT,
“Yeah, since I can remember. It’s stuff my son does. now that my dad said I did at his age,” said ATL Jacob.
This is what really made ATL Jacob. The hospital moments,” said ATL Jacob.
He shared that he suffered from Chrome disease.
“One night, I was at the studio. My stomach was hurting a little bit, but I was hungry. I always had little stomach pains, but I never knew what it was. I ate some Chinese food then I ate some pizza. I woke up the next day and as damnnear paralyzed. I had. whole on my intestine. I was in the hospital for like a week. That’s how I found out I had Chrome Disease. I started making music in the hospital,” said ATL Jacob.
“How did you come up with the name ATL Jacob?” asked OCT.
“Around that time, I found an older interview, and it had 1000 views on it. I’m from Atlanta, and my name is Jacob,” said ATL Jacob.
“What was it like first meeting Future?” asked OCT.
“I was actually sleeping on the couch. He was trying to dap me up. I dabbed him up,” said ATL Jacob.
ATL Jacob talked about meeting Lil Durk.
“Can we talk about ATL Jacob, the father?” asked Ferrari.
“You know the song Never Stop? The day I made the beat, that’s when I found out I was having my daughter. We made that song that night. I wasn’t ready, so that was an argument of ours. So I went and got shorty pregnant on purpose.” he added, “It was so stressful that I didn’t talk to one, and I barely talked to the other one.”
“Correct me if I’m wrong, but when Super Gremlin came out, that might’ve been one of your biggest commercial hit records. How did that song change you?” said Ferrari.
“It changed me musically. It changed the way I looked at music. It made me think of what else I can do, and it made me explore,” said ATL Jacob.
“One of my favorite records of 2022 and 2023 was Wait For U. A couple of people passed on that beat,” said Ferrari.
“Even though she’s featured, it’s a sample. That’s the time me and Kali broke up and I was playing that song a lot,” said ATL Jacob.
ATL Jacob shared his thoughts on Tems and their relationship.
“I think she was a little annoyed with the Wait For U track,” said ATL Jacob.
ATL Jacob shared that he hit his first minion at the age of 21.
ATL Jacob also shared that the now has a record label. He mentioned working with Travis Barker’s daughter and Akon’s son.
How is dating life for you right now?
“I’m super picky with the girls in my life now. I got celibate at least three times a year. I make the best music,” said ATL Jacob.
“Do you think Drake’s music is pop music or hip-hop music?” asked BT.
“It’s definitely Hip Hop. That’s definitely rap for sure. He makes pop music, but he’s definitely a rapper,” said ATL Jacob.
