The Baller Alert Show, featuring your lifestyle specialist Kenny Burns, with Ferrari Simmons and Su Solo, kicked off its 75th episode with a recap of the hottest topics and current events from the previous week.
To start, the hosts opened the show with a conversation about Music, and what the older generation is listening to versus millennials and generation Z. While many slams the new age artists and rappers, Rari likened the circumstance to that of his own experience.
“I grew up off that era where you were, rapping, rapping, rapping, but my parents were like, ‘What the hell is that,’ Rari said, adding that, “So they didn’t understand my style of music.” However, Burns interjected, highlighting the importance of storytelling in music, but in the end, as a DJ, Rari said his sole purpose was to stay in the know.
In case you missed it, the hosts discussed the 2019 free agency, which left the league overwhelmingly balanced after several seasons of Golden State Warriors vs. LeBron James. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are heading to Brooklyn, Anthony Davis is in L.A. with LeBron, and Russell Westbrook is heading to Houston to team up with James Harden once again.
Next, the host discussed HBO’s ‘Euphoria,’ starring Zendaya, which is a controversial teen drama about all the issues that teenagers go through, from sex, drugs, gossip, and more. In fact, Burns dubbed the show a must-watch, before they expressed the same sentiment about ‘Snowfall’ and ‘Queen of The South.’
As the episode continued, the hosts touched on A$AP Rocky’s controversial arrest in Sweden. While many pulled his controversial comments about Ferguson and the black community, the hosts believe that, although the initial comments were hurtful, it should not be held against him. What do you believe?
From there, the hosts opened up about Jermaine Dupri’s comments about female rappers, which sparked widespread backlash. However, according to Burns, JD’s comments weren’t necessarily a dig at female rappers as a whole, but more so, a generalization about the three that were mentioned: Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, and Megan Thee Stallion.
In Baller Mail, the hosts shared advice for a woman who questioned what she should do if her boyfriend didn’t post her on social media. Then for comment creepin, Octavia, filling in for Su Solo, shared this week’s comments featuring, Kehlani, Megan Thee Stallion, Asian Da Brat and a few other female entertainers.
To wrap the episode, Burns shared a few words of wisdom via Kenfucious says.
