The Baller Alert Show, featuring your lifestyle specialist Kenny Burns, with Ferrari Simmons and Su Solo, kicked off its 59th episode with a recap of the hottest topics and current events from the previous week.
In case you missed it, the hosts discussed the overwhelming black excellence at the Oscars. With Regina King winning her first Oscar for Best Supporting Actress and Mahershala Ali becoming the second black actor in Oscar history to secure two trophies for acting with “Best Supporting Actor” for “Green Book,” the ceremony, in itself, made history. In fact, this year’s Oscar’s nominated and awarded the most black people ever.
Among the six historical winners was the legendary director, Spike Lee, whose recognition was long overdue. However, at the 91st annual Academy Awards, Lee took home his very first Oscar for “Best Adapted Screenplay” for his most recent Spike Lee Joint, “BlackKklansman.”
Congratulations to all the winners, but especially everybody black!
As the segment continued, the hosts talked new music, which included the release of Gunna’s debut project, “Drip or Drown 2,” Kehlani’s mixtape, “While We Wait,” and Offset’s solo project, “Father of 4.”
While the hosts discussed the best release of the three, Burns dished on Offset album, highlighting the fact that the rapper tackled real, important topics, between his upbringing in the hood, his stint in jail, his marital faults, and much more. What was your favorite release of the three?
From there, the hosts discussed R. Kelly’s arrest on 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse after videos surfaced of him allegedly having sexual intercourse with an underage girl. Although at the time Kelly was unable to post bail due to financial hardship, a friend of the self-proclaimed Pied Piper, who has since been identified as a suburban daycare owner, has posted his $100,000 bail for his release.
The hosts then dished on the Kardashian klan drama surrounding Tristan Thompson’s cheating scandal, before Simmons shared this week’s baller mail about live-in girlfriend’s and their male friends.
After that, Su shared a comment creeping featuring T.I.’s daughter, Deyjah Harris, in which she dragged a commenter for condemning her for wearing makeup. From there, to wrap the episode, Burns shared a few words of wisdom.
