Apple has announced a documentary that will follow the career of Beastie Boys Story, the punk band turned hip-hop trio, which is often regarded as one of the most successful rap groups in hip-hop history.
“Beastie Boys Story,” directed and written by Spike Jonze in collaboration with surviving members Mike Diamond and Adam Horovitz, will premiere ahead of the 26th anniversary of the group’s fourth album, “Ill Communication.”
The documentary is bittersweet, as the group’s third member, Adam Yauch, is no longer with us to witness the iconic film. He succumbed to cancer in 2012.
The trio rose to fame in 1986. Their debut album “Licensed To Ill” went on to win three Grammys.
The film will premiere in select Imax theaters on April 3rd before dropping on Apple TV+ April 24th.
