In the prepared statement, Biden highlights the Black community’s long history of oppression and racism, and explains his efforts will begin with “rooting out systematic racism from our laws, our policies, our institutions, and our hearts.”
As he continued, he touched on the adverse effects of the coronavirus, as it pertains to the black community, including the racial disparities in both the infections and the death toll.
Biden says his extensive plan will “advance the economic mobility of African Americans and close the racial wealth and income gaps; expand access to high-quality education and tackle racial inequity in our education system; make far-reaching investments in ending health disparities by race; Strengthen America’s commitment to justice; Make the right to vote and the right to equal protection real for African Americans; as well as Address environmental justice.”
Biden is also looking to invest in black businesses and entrepreneurs, in an attempt to “advance the economic mobility of African Americans and close the racial wealth and income gaps.” He says he also wants to expand black homeownership, giving African Americans access to affordable and safe housing.
Elsewhere Biden highlights his attempt to tackle retirement, unemployment, the student debt crisis, as well as his desire to expand access to high-quality education and eradicate racial inequality in our education system and much more.
