The Black Girls Rock! Awards Make Their Television Comeback On Lifetime After A Five-Year Hiatus

The Black Girls Rock! Awards will make a television comeback after a five-year break and a transition from BET to Lifetime.

As per a press release, the Black Girls Rock! Awards, which celebrates the remarkable achievements of trailblazers, entertainers, icons, community activists, pioneers, business leaders, thought influencers, and emerging talents, will return to television this year. Previously broadcast annually on BET from 2010 to 2019, the event is now making a significant shift to Lifetime for its highly anticipated comeback. The awards ceremony is set to be filmed live in Atlanta on June 27 and will subsequently air later this fall.

“In a momentous announcement, Atlanta, Georgia, has been declared the host city for the 2024 Black Girls Rock! Awards, marking a significant milestone as the city becomes the new epicenter for the world-renowned celebration,” the release states.

The release further mentions that Atlanta’s Fox Theatre will serve as the venue for the show, which is poised to be the centerpiece of a larger, city-wide Black Girls Rock! Experience. This inclusive experience will encompass various events and celebrations throughout Atlanta, such as The BGR! Expo, the annual BGR! Film Festival, The Black Cloud Tech Summit, and the BGFEST concert series. These initiatives aim to solidify Atlanta’s reputation as a cultural epicenter while honoring the accomplishments and essence of Black women on a global scale.

Additionally, the release closes by emphasizing that the event’s collaboration with Atlanta marks the beginning of a lasting legacy of cultural celebration and empowerment. This partnership underscores the event’s mission-driven approach, providing more than just a celebration but also a wellspring of inspiration for generations to come.
