I’m probably not gonna make any new friends for this one but whatever, someone’s got to say it. Aren’t we tired of the “Reality T.V. phenomenon” yet. No, not yet? Not even a little bit? Cause I am. Â I’m over it. Actually, I’ve been over it and find myself over a lot of things that are incredibly popular as of late and I’m baffled as to why more of you aren’t ready to see something different too. I mean yes, I will agree that it can be quite entertaining to watch people live messy lives while they sleep with this one, get played by that one, argue and fight with each other over everything and nothing. But I mean c’mon, at what point will we come to a consensus and decide that we just need to move onto the next thing? Â
Have our real lives become so dull that watching relatively regular people sell their body and souls for a little bit of fame and attention is the highlight of our day and main topic of daily conversation? Â Do we have nothing better to do than watch people who are emotionally unstable, narcissistic, substance abusers, manipulative, bad tempered and borderline bat sh#$ crazy flood every media outlet we have? Do we really consider fighting, arguing, infidelity, womanizing, manipulation, prostitution and pill popping as a valid form of entertainment? Â Has our insatiable desire for fame and celebrity caused us to forgo a life where simple pleasures and regularity is no longer acceptable? Is this truly what we have become? Â Nothing more than a society filled with people who seek validation in the form of social media popularity. Â People who are purposely self absorbed and obsessed with their ability to be seen in order to feel a sense of self worth. Â Are we that desperate for attention that we have to use carefully worded posts, videos and pictures throughout the day to create this persona to appear important online but, for who? Â Where are your friends? Where is your family? Who are you really talking to, do you even know?
It appears that we’ve thrown away our moral compass and common sense in exchange for the hope of becoming famous. Â We place people on a pedestal for just about anything these days and simultaneously drag them for being flawed. Â We claim to strive for a better life for ourselves and families yet, glorify the self destructive behavior of your favorite celebrity. Â I’m not judging though, just asking some questions. Hoping y’all share and like this so I can get Instafamous or whatever too smh.Â
