The FBI is looking into the pro-Trump residents who were recorded allegedly driving Biden campaign trucks out of San Antonio.
Last week, a video of several Donald Trump supporters driving in trucks alongside a Biden-Harris campaign bus went viral. The footage shows motorists displaying Trump 2020 flags, CNN reports. “FBI San Antonio is aware of the incident and investigating,” said FBI spokesperson Michelle Lee.
The alleged harassment happened last Friday as the Biden-Harris campaign bus was on its way out from San Antonio to Austin. It was the last day for the state’s early voting and the campaign bus was traveling through the state to urge Biden supporters to get out and vote. As they were leaving, the trucks swarmed around the van; a Biden campaign official said the motorists were trying to slow it down and run them off the road.
During the alleged attack, people in the “Trump Train” started yelling profanities and obscenities at the campaigners on the bus. CNN Politics’ Josh Campbell writes that Trump supporters then surrounded the bus, stopping it from moving forward. The campaign officials said the Trumpers slowed the down to roughly 20 mph on Interstate 35, allegedly in an attempt to have the bus in the middle of the highway. CNN reports that nearly 100 vehicles were around the campaign bus. The Biden campaigners said the incident was nerve-racking but that no one was harmed. Kamala Harris and Joe Biden were not on the bus.
The Biden staffers called 911 and law enforcement ended up leading them to their destination, the outlet reports. Trump ended up posting the video in excitement, writing, “I LOVE TEXAS!” on Saturday. He claims the Trump supporters weren’t bullying the Biden campaigners but instead were “protecting” them. “But it is something, did you see the way our people they…you know they were protecting his bus yesterday, because they’re nice,” said Trump.
