The Gucci family is allegedly upset over how they were portrayed in the film “House of Gucci.”
“House of Gucci” stars big-name celebs Lady Gaga, who portrays Patrizia Reggiani, and Adam Driver, who plays Maurizio Gucci. The movie depicts what allegedly happened between the family when Patrizia allegedly insidiously persuaded Maurizio into making strategic business moves for the fashion brand that would benefit her, eventually leading to biological members of the Gucci family losing the very name they worked so hard for and the murder of Maurizio.
While the film may have pulled in major support, the Gucci family is reportedly not here for it. They called Lady Gaga-led film “an insult to the legacy on which the brand is built,” TooFab reports.
“The Gucci family takes note of the release of the film House of Gucci and is a bit disconcerted because, although the work claims to want to tell the ‘true story’ of the family, the fears raised by the trailers and interviews released so far, are confirmed: the film carries a narrative that is far from accurate,” wrote the descendants of Aldo Gucci.
“The production of the film did not bother to consult the heirs before describing Aldo Gucci – president of the company for 30 years – and the members of the Gucci family as thugs, ignorant and insensitive to the world around them, attributing to the protagonists, events, a tone and an attitude that never belonged to them,” they continued. “This is extremely painful from a human point of view and an insult to the legacy on which the brand is built today.”
They also mentioned how the film allegedly portrays the company as not being “inclusive” to women, highlighting that many women were placed in important roles. “The members of the Gucci family reserves every right to protect the name, image and the dignity of their loved ones,” said the family.
