Many people know of the famous Jackson Family, but many might’ve been unaware that they were related to other superstars.
Singer Janet Jackson recently appeared on the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show, where she discussed her far-reaching loved ones.
The Jackson-Wonder Connection
According to the “All For You” star, she is related to legendary “Isn’t She Lovely” vocalist Stevie Wonder.
“He’s our cousin,” Janet confirmed. “Not a lot of people know that. He’s our cousin on my mother’s side.”
This isn’t her first time making the revelation about Wonder. Back in 2011, Jackson shared this during Wonder’s Hall of Fame induction. It was also referenced again in 2019. However, this fun fact wasn’t exactly common knowledge to most fans. Wonder has long praised Janet and Michael maintaining a close bond with the siblings over the years. Also, in the chat, Janet shared more talented loved ones, which may have been even more shocking.
More Famous Relatives: Tracy Chapman and Samuel L. Jackson
As if the connection to Stevie Wonder wasn’t surprising enough, Janet revealed even more famous names linked to the Jackson family.
“So is Tracy Chapman,” she added. “So is Samuel Jackson.”
Wonder is Jackson’s third cousin once removed from her mother, Katherine’s side of the family. It’s not precisely clear how Samuel and Tracy are related to the famous clan.
The Jackson Legacy
The Jackson family consists of Rebbie, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, La Toya, Marlon, Randy, Brandon, who died in childhood, the late Michael Jackson, and, of course, Janet. Their father Joe Jackson placed his children in entertainment at young ages, notably singing group, The Jackson 5, which propelled them to superstardom.
The third generation of the Jackson family, consisting of twenty-seven children and several great-grandchildren, is already making its mark on the entertainment world. Among them, the most well-known are Michael Jackson’s children—Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., known as “Prince”; Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson; and Prince Michael Jackson II, who goes by “Bigi.” Since their father’s passing in 2009, these three have been under the media spotlight, each carving out their own place in the industry.
Other members of the third generation are also carrying the family’s musical torch. Rebbie Jackson’s son, Austin Brown, has become a successful singer-songwriter in the pop and R&B genres. Tito Jackson’s three sons—Taj, Taryll, and TJ—form the R&B/pop group 3T, which has enjoyed international success with several studio albums. Jackie Jackson’s son, Sigmund Esco “Siggy” Jackson, Jr., also known as “Dealz,” has found success as a hip-hop artist and ghostwriter, while Jermaine Jackson’s son, Jay Jackson Jr., portrayed his father in the 1992 biographical miniseries The Jacksons: An American Dream.
Janet Jackson’s son, Eissa Al Mana, born in 2017, is the youngest member of the third generation, continuing the family legacy into the future.
The “Unthinkable” movie star and “Fast Car” singer haven’t spoken out to confirm their connections to the Jacksons.
