The anticipated Lovers & Friends Festival turned chaotic after a “security incident” occurred.
The two-day event took place this past weekend at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds and featured performances from Lauryn Hill, Usher, Ludacris, Lil Jon, Monica, TLC and others. The show seemed to be going well until a stampede erupted after people thought they heard gunshots.
The interruption happened around 10:30 pm causing thousands of concertgoers to run for the exits and some were trampled.
However, the show organizers later said the commotion was caused by fans rushing the barricades.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department gave a statement to TMZ saying, “Shortly after 10 PM, gunfire was reportedly heard near the site of the Lovers & Friends Festival. Causing a large group of attendees to exit the venue. At this time, there is no evidence of a shooting and the initial report has been deemed unfounded. Three people were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The show has since resumed.”
Shortly after the incident, festival organizers released a message on screens saying there was a security incident and urged everyone to remain in place.
