The Plastic Surgeon Who Operated On Kanye West’s Mom Wants His Name Cleared

Dr. Donda West passed away in 2007 following complications from plastic surgery and the surgeon who operated on her is not only seeking to have his name cleared, he blames Kanye’s cousin for Donda’s death. 

In 2007 Kanye’s mother underwent over five-and-a-half hours of plastic surgery including breast reduction, tummy tuck and liposuction. She died the next day due to complications but her plastic surgeon, Dr. Jan Adams, says it was due to poor after care by Kanye’s cousin, Stephan Scoggins – a registered nurse with a Ph.D. in public health. Dr. Adams is asking for Kanye to step in.  ‘It baffles me when nobody wants to know the truth,’ Adams told the Daily News. ‘I think (Kanye) should stand up and tell the truth, and the truth will set you free. ‘If he had any b**** or if he was any kind of man he could (speak up). But the real answer is he probably won’t.’  He says that most people believe that Donda died on the operating table and that’s just not true. ‘Most people that I run into think she died on the table, they don’t even know this lady was home for a day,’ said Adams. ‘The truth hasn’t been revealed.’

Dr. Adams said that he strongly recommended that Donda receive post-surgery care at a private recovery center but Scroggins opted to take charge. Adams says Scroggins never followed through on promises to install patient monitors in Donda’s bedroom when she returned home after 5 1/2 hours of surgery and that he even left her under the care of untrained friends while he attended a baby shower and avoided phone calls. According to Adams Donda West took as many as 20 pain-killing Vicodin in less than 24 hours and wound up choking on her own vomit because she was allowed to lie flat on her back in bed. She aspirated the food contents into her lungs and that’s that,” said Adams. “And four minutes later you’re dead. Jimi Hendrix, that’s how he died. It ain’t magical.”

Dr. Adams called for an investigation at the time of Donda’s death but the state nursing board reached out to the coroner demanding their probe be dropped. For the record, the coroner didn’t find Adams at fault either. 

In this case, I totally understand where Dr. Adams is coming from. Though he was never legally at fault, his name is still plastered all over the internet for the world to see and no matter what, people will consider him the man who killed Kanye West’s mom. I think it’s fair that Kanye help him but I doubt he will.
