The Pros and Cons Of Airbnb Stays And Hotels — Which Do You Prefer?

Airbnb has changed travel accommodations for life as we know it. Travelers now have more options at their fingertips than ever before. And although there are many advantages of the rental platform, some find it hard to choose between Airbnb stays and hotels.

Whether it be a luxurious stay or something quirky, there are so many accommodations around the world to choose from. And because there are advantages to both hotels, and Airbnb stays, travelers are left to weigh the better alternative.

There are several factors to consider when booking where to stay—the decision plays a huge role in how the trip will turn out.  Travelers have to think about costs, amenities, activities, and much more.

On one hand, hotels are a great choice for a short trip or for those who want all the thrills. One thing about hotels is that they have everything you need on-site–bar, food, pool, housekeeping, fitness center, and more. Hotels cater to you so you can unwind and relax without lifting a finger. Guests tend to get their money’s worth because of all the services that are fixed in the price.

Another perk of hotels is that they’re conveniently located near local attractions that visitors are there to experience.

Needless to say, when it comes to hotels you know what you’re getting.

As for Airbnb, the platform provides a plethora of basic to luxurious options that hotels have yet to catch up to, including mansions, treehouses, cabins, houseboats, and more all across the world. Airbnb stays are widely known to be more fitting for group travel and longer trips.

Airbnb gives you the option to rent an entire place or a room in a shared space. Guests pay by night rather than per person so it tends to be cheaper for the group. However, many loyal Airbnb users now argue that the platform is becoming more ridiculous with the added-on fees.

Having your own private space also provides you with a lot more freedom compared to hotels. The downside is you may have to cook or go out to eat. Oh, and clean because housekeeping usually happens when you check out (with a cleaning fee added to the booking fee).

When it comes to Airbnb you shouldn’t expect amenities or services, although sometimes travelers get lucky.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to the traveler’s preference. As you can see there are advantages and disadvantages to both. A great accommodation option is all about what you want and need.
