The Show Must Go On! ‘American Idol’ To Air Remote Live Shows; Contestants To Perform From Their Homes

ABC has found a creative way to keep their hit show, American Idol, on our TV screens. According to Hollywood Reporter, starting April 26, the network will begin filming live shows from the homes of host Ryan Seacrest and judges- Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Also, performing from their homes are the top 20 contestants as they continue to battle it out for America’s vote and title of American Idol Season 3 winner. Bobby Bones has agreed to participate in the home episodes and will continue to mentor the contestants.

ABC, along with hundreds of other production companies, was forced to postpone filming due to COVID-19. Since then, the network has engaged its audience with pre-taped material.

Last week part one of the two-part special ’American Idol-This is Me’ gave a more personal glimpse of contestants and never-before-seen footage. Part-two will air this Sunday, and the final chosen contestant will be announced. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Late-night shows were the trailblazers of filming remote style episodes. American Idol is one of the first to join the bandwagon as a primetime entertainment show. Don’t forget to watch and cast your votes.
