“Social Networks ruin relationships” may be the dumbest statement ever. I hate with the deepest of passions that common misconception about social networks. They’ve ruined a lot of things but relationships are probably at the bottom of the list.
I once seen a girl say on twitter “my man not allowed to have a twitter” my question to her and to anyone with that mindset is why do you have one? If it’s so bad for your partner then why is it ok for you to have one?
Most of the people with that idea seem to blame constant interactions with the opposite sex as a reason for their partner straying away. So you’re telling me that they wouldn’t bump into the opposite sex on their commute to work? At school? At work? Or any random outing?
A person stepping out on you has less to do with a social media site and more to do with the person. It’s in them already (mentally) and all the social network has done was cut off a middle man.
My biggest issue are the people who spend their time stalking, watching and following their partners every interaction just to find something to complain about. If you don’t trust them why even be there? Why subject yourself to looking crazy and snooping if you’re genuinely not ready for what you’ll find? Because if they did exactly what you thought they were doing then who looks more foolish? Them for cheating? Or you for staying around and knowing this?
Problem with social networks as far as relationships more so rely in how people display their relationship to the public. If you’re giving the public every move of your relationship then don’t be surprised that when you praise your partner they’ll be the ones watching and biding their time for something. If you’re giving them the negative don’t be surprised that they’ll be ones watching and biding their time for something to open up. The person that they constantly tweet/Instagram is 85.9% of the time not a threat. In fact they usually respect it. But if they’re gonna do something like cheat then most aren’t obvious with the person they’re doing the dirt with.
Jealousy is a human emotion. We are all subject to it. Hell it’s normal but there’s a difference between jealousy and bat shit crazy
Truth is they’ll always be someone that wants what you have; it’s what you’re doing to keep that person away from the what ifs. A social network should never be the make or break in any relationship and if it becomes a constant factor then you have to reevaluate what you have to do to fix it. If your love isn’t stronger than 140 characters then you have to ask how strong was it from the beginning.
