Presidential candidate Ted Cruz did not take too kindly to The Washington Post coming after his two young daughters in a political cartoon.
Cartoonist, Ann Telnaes drew Cruz’s grade school aged daughters as trained monkeys in an attempt to criticize the presidential hopeful for using his family in a political ad. The ad featured Cruz, his wife Heidi, reading politically charged versions of Christmas stories like “How ObamaCare Stole Christmas”, “The Grinch Who Lost Her Emails,” and “The Senator Who Saved Christmas.”
Though some may have found his commercial to lack tact, Ted found the drawing of his daughters in The Washington Post far worse. “Classy. @washingtonpost makes fun of my girls. Stick w/ attacking me–Caroline & Catherine are out of your league,” he tweeted.
The Washington Post has since retracted the image. Check out the commercial below. Are his daughters “trained monkeys” or did the Post go too far?
