The world’s deepest pool has opened in Dubai.
There’s an underwater city in Dubai that has now been updated with the world’s largest pool. This adds to the city’s giant sights. The city already has the tallest skyscraper, largest mall, and the deepest pool, CNN reports.
The pool, called Deep Dive Dubai, is 60 meters deep (196 feet) and has now beat Poland’s Deepspot pool, which is over 45 meters deep. It’s filled with 14 million liters of fresh water, and it’s been awarded as the “Deepest swimming pool for diving.” Just to put it into perspective, the pool is the volume of six Olympic-sized swimming pools, and is at least four times bigger than any other diving pool in the world, writes Maggie Hiufu Wong of CNN.
And it’s not really just a pool; the underwater city beneath is equipped with different activities, including foosball, arcade games, and more. But, if you’d like to swim, the water is kept at 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit), allowing a person to wear a thin swimsuit.
For those wanting to visit, you’ll have to be invited. However, the facility said it would be opening the pool up to the public sometime later this year. “There are quite a few dive pools in the world that are deep, but this one is so much more interesting,” Deep Dive Dubai director Jarrod Jablonski told CNN. “It’s not only deepest and largest, but the sunken city effect makes it next world order.
“There are so many things it’s really not fair to call it a pool.”
