This year’s BET Hip-Hop Awards will welcome guests back to enjoy the show live in person.
The 16th annual BET Hip-Hop Awards will tape at the Cobb Energy Center in Atlanta, Georgia, on Friday, October 1st. The star-studded show will air Tuesday, October 5th at 9 P.M. Fulton County will work closely with BET to ensure that COVID-19 protocols are in place to keep all attendees safe. However, it is unclear if guests will need to be vaccinated to attend.
Due to the lockdown orders of last year, the 2020 ceremony did not include an audience but did feature performances from Latto, Jhene Aiko, Lil Baby, and several others. Comedy supergroup 85 South hosted the virtual event, with the rap cyphers still taking place and Master P receiving the “I Am Hip Hop” Award for his three-decades-long career as an innovator in rap.
“Hip hop is a global movement that embraces the diversity of expression and reflects what is affecting our community in a raw and unapologetic way,” stated Connie Orlando, BET’s EVP of Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy.
Nominees and performers have not yet been announced.
