Three 6 Mafia Files $6.45 Million Copyright Infringement Lawsuit Against $uicideboy$ Over Uncleared Samples

Juicy J and DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia filed a $6.45 million lawsuit in June against $uicideboy$ over illegal sampling.

Juicy J and DJ Paul allege that Scrim and Ruby da Cherry have “illegally sampled and stolen” from 35 Three 6 Mafia records and have “made a career” off of the stolen content, according to court documents reviewed by Complex.

Attorneys for Three 6 Mafia allege that the $uicideboy$ used elements from songs “Mask and Da Glock,” “Mafia Niggaz (Yeah Hoe),” and “Smoked Out, Loced Out,” among others without permission to do so.

Juicy J and DJ Paul are asking for $1.2 million in compensatory and actual damages, including profits from the alleged infringement, and an additional $5.25 million in statutory damages.

$uicideboy$, who have worked with Three 6 Mafia in the past, deny that Juicy J and DJ Paul own the copyrights to the songs they are accused of stealing and are alleging that they had verbal permission to use the material, which DJ Paul denied.

“Nah, they didn’t have no verbal agreement with Juicy J,” DJ Paul said in an interview on Wednesday. “They was using our music before they even met Juicy J. Nah; he didn’t do that. They lying.”

“They stole our act, they stole everything that’s about us,” he said. “So, basically, Lord Infamous passes away. One of those dudes [Scrim] call himself The Scarecrow, which everybody know Lord Infamous The Scarecrow, that was his name, he got it tattooed on his arm. He turned himself into my dead brother.”
