DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia has received his second lawsuit due to legal troubles involving his song with Trippie Redd, “Death.”
In legal docs obtained by TMZ, Reginald Boyland of On The Strength Records says “Death” was actually a sample of “Hit A Mutha****a,” which was a popular DJ Paul track from 1997. DJ Paul does not own the rights to “Hit,” and he sampled Boyland’s “Pimps In The House,” so now, Boyland is suing the DJ.
Boyland is suing for copyright infringement and is requesting a portion of the funds made off of the tracks.
Boyland claims in his lawsuit that he got the rights to “Hit” in a 2015 settlement with DJP. As “Death” dropped last November, Boyland is bringing the situation to the light as he says Trippie Redd never requested permission to use the song.
TMZ has also reported a group of artists from Memphis that are suing both DJP and Juicy J for allegedly stiffing them.
