Thursday former Minneapolis, MN police officers J. Alexander Kueng, Thomas Lane and Tou Thao were found guilty of violating George Floyd’s civil rights.
The three former officers were previously charged with depriving Floyd of his civil rights while acting under government authority. Both Kueng and Thao were also charged for not intervening when fellow officer Derek Chauvin placed his knee on Floyd’s neck for 9 ½ minutes.
All three men face up to life in prison, though it is unlikely.
In closing arguments prosecutors Manda Sertich said Tuesday, “They chose not to aid George Floyd, as the window into which Mr. Floyd’s life could have been saved slammed shut.”
