An appeal filed by three Pennsylvania men who were convicted of having sex with horses, goats, dogs and cows, has been denied.

Terry Wallace, Matthew Brubaker and Marc Measnikoff will stay in prison for their entire sentences following an attempt to try and appeal their 20 to 41-year sentences, Bossip reports. The appeal was denied by President Judge Emeritus John Bender; and the three men were placed in prison after pleading guilty to 730 counts of sexual intercourse with animals and 730 counts of cruelty to animals.

The men haven’t even served a full two years of their sentence, which they called too harsh of a sentence for their crimes, the outlet reports. The men were reportedly abusing the animals for years until a teen tipped off reporters to the men’s crimes. The men would record themselves sexually abusing and assaulting the animals; the teen stated that he was required to bring the animals to a specific place where the men would rape the animals.

Judge Bender came to the decision that the men needed mental help and that prison is the place where they would receive it. The original sentencing judge, Judge Paul E. Cherry wrote that the time “a long incarceration will allow (him) adequate time to work on his mental health through treatment and time to refrain from said acts so that he may become a healthy, law-abiding, and productive member of society.”
