It seems that calling law enforcement on black people for seemingly trivial reasons has become an unflattering trend. In the latest episode, three women were arrested for allegedly taking too long in the restroom.
Erica Walker, Brittany Marie Lucio and Asia’h Sharrell Epperson, entered an Atlanta Houston’s on Mothers Day and went to the restroom. The kitchen was reportedly closed but according to the women the restaurant was still fully occupied with customers and open.

According to 11Alive, after the women were in the restroom for about 10 minutes, the shift manager called for security, who was an off-duty police officer, requesting that the women be removed from the restroom. The guard says he entered the restroom and told the women to leave and they laughed at him.

According to the officer’s report, he grabbed one of the women by the wrist and she pulled away before he grabbed her shin and drug her out of the restaurant. The officer claims that the woman punched him. After the encounter, all three women were arrested on trespassing charges.

However, according to the lawyer of the woman who had her wrist grabbed, there are multiple inaccuracies in the officer’s report.

Multiple celebrities, including #TI, have joined the women in calling for a boycott of the restaurant. According to other Atlanta residents, the restaurant’s security has a history of violating women.

Houston’s released the following statement regarding the incident:

The evidence we have seen thus far shows that three women arrived approximately 30 minutes after closing time, they went into the restroom as a group after being told that the restaurant was closed. The three stayed in the restroom for more than 10 minutes and refused to leave despite repeated requests from several managers to do so. Eventually, an off-duty Atlanta Police Officer was summoned with whom one or more of the women got into an altercation that led to arrests. Based on our current understanding, we believe our managers responded appropriately to this unfortunate situation.
