Tia Mowry is addressing the recent talk surrounding her relationship with her twin sister, Tamera Mowry-Housley. After comments she made in a trailer for her upcoming We TV docuseries Tia Mowry: My Next Act sparked speculation, Tia is clearing things up.
In the trailer, Tia, 46, mentioned, “I wish I could pick up the phone and call her, but that’s just not where we are right now,” which led to rumors that the two were not as close anymore. However, in a recent interview with Us Weekly, Tia explained that her words were simply about the natural changes that come with time and distance, not any tension between the sisters.
“You know, as we get older, we start our own families and take on new responsibilities,” Tia said. “That’s really all I was saying.”
Tia, who lives in Los Angeles, pointed out that Tamera now lives in Napa with her husband, Adam Housley, and their children, Aden, 11, and Ariah, 9. She added that their brother Tahj and their father also live in L.A., while their other brother, Tavior, lives in Tennessee. The physical distance has naturally impacted how often they see each other.
“Sometimes you just want to reach out and have the closeness you once had, but life moves forward,” Tia shared. “We still have a great connection, but we’re all busy with our own lives.”
Tia also addressed the online reaction to her comments, saying that after more than 30 years in the spotlight, she knows that things can be taken out of context. “It’s just part of being in the public eye,” she told Us Weekly. “But the important thing is that my sister and I are good, and always will be.”
Tia, who recently went through a divorce from actor Cory Hardrict, is now focusing on her next phase in life. Her new show, Tia Mowry: My Next Act, will document her journey of personal growth and self-reflection. “I’m looking forward to this next chapter,” she said. “It’s all about understanding myself better and embracing the changes that come with life.”
