Tia Mowry says her daughter, Cairo, sometimes mistakes her sister Tamera Mowry for her.
When you live that twin life, you’ll just have to get used to people thinking one is the other, even if those people are your kids. Tia Mowry Hardrict says that’s the case with her and her sister Tia Mowry Housley. During a conversation with PEOPLE, Mowry-Hardrict talked about the sister to sister confusion.
“When my daughter Cairo was looking at my sister’s daughter, she goes, ‘Cairo?’ We feel like Cairo and Ariah look alike,” says Mowry-Hardrict. “And then when she looks at my sister Tamera, she’ll go, ‘Mama.’ Because she thinks it’s me.” That’s the story of her life, Mowry-Hardrict admits. “That’s what it’s like having a twin in the family.”
Mowry-Hardrict went on to talk about her other child, Cree, saying he really “enjoys seeing Mommy on television.” However, he is picky about his mother’s past work. She said the 9-year-old is a “huge fan of Family Reunion” on Netflix but isn’t really into “Twitches.” “#Twitches was on, and he was like, ‘Eh,’ and changed the channel after five minutes,” Mowry-Hardrict says. “[I’m like], ‘Are you freaking kidding me? That’s your mother — not only your mother, your auntie. What’s the problem?'”
She adds that her son loves his Uncle Tahj Mowry’s work as well, including Smart Guy and his work on Full House. “My son has a very close relationship with his uncle,” she said. “He loves everything that my brother Tahj does.”
Mowry-Hardrict says there’s nothing more adorable than seeing her daughter’s face light up when she sees her Mom on screen. “She’s the cutest thing when she sees Mommy on TV. She goes, ‘Mama, Mama, Mama.’ It’s so cute.” While they’ve been in quarantine, the actress says she’s been cheffing it up with some of the family’s favorites like apple pie and banana bread. “Banana bread is something the whole family loves. I love the versatility of it. You can make it for breakfast, lunch, or dinner,” said the star. Her love for food is one of the reasons why her partnership with Ocean Spray is a perfect and organic pairing.
“I’m a huge fan of Craisins. My family, we absolutely love it, especially my daughter. She will literally just eat from the bag,” she said.
