Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears are being sued by two unidentified siblings claiming they were groomed by the comedians when they were just 14 and 7 years old.
However, attorneys for Haddish claim the suit is a mere shakedown and the mother of the accusers has been trying to extort the “Girls Trip” star for years.
The lawsuit filed pro se Monday night alleges Haddish and Spears recruited Jane, now 22, and John Doe, now 14, to perform inappropriate acts on camera when they were kids.
The plaintiffs’ mother told The Daily Beast she met Haddish through comedy and they quickly bonded over going through a divorce. She claimed they remained close over the years, and it was in the summer of 2013 when Jane Doe attended a comedy camp where Haddish appeared as a guest speaker. The lawsuit alleges Haddish told Jane she had the perfect role for her in a commercial, but things took a turn when she showed up to film.
The suit alleges Jane was told to watch a sexually suggestive video and was then asked to “mimic what she had seen on the screen, including the noises precisely like what she heard throughout the video.”
The lawsuit also claims that a year later, Haddish recruited John Doe for a video shoot at Aries Spears’ home that they thought would be for Nickelodeon but turned out to be a Funny or Die skit. John alleges he was molested while filing the skit titled “Through a Pedophile’s Eyes.”
Attorneys for Haddish told TMZ Thursday that the suit is a mere extortion attempt.
“Plaintiff’s mother, Trizah Morris, has been trying to assert these bogus claims against Ms. Haddish for several years.”
“Every attorney who has initially taken on her case — and there were several — ultimately dropped the matter once it became clear that the claims were meritless and Ms. Haddish would not be shaken down. Now, Ms. Morris has her adult daughter representing herself in this lawsuit. The two of them will together face the consequences of pursuing this frivolous action.”
The mother has attempted to settle with Spears for $15,000.
They are suing Haddish and Spears for damages.
