Tiffany Haddish says it took some convincing for her to give her boyfriend, Common, a shot.
According to ET News, when Haddish appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, the 41-year-old comedian corrected Colbert when he referred to Common as her “boyfriend.”
“He’s not my boyfriend; he’s my man,” Haddish said. “I don’t date boys no more. I date men. He’s my man.”
When Colbert, who is married, asked Tiffany why she’d previously rejected Common’s advances towards her, she joked, “I was waiting for you, Steve. I was waiting for you to get single.”
Haddish went on to explain, “He was trying to holler, and I was like, ‘No, I’m not really interested. Nah, I’m good. My eyes are set on other things. I’m interested in somebody else, I’m sorry. But you seem like a nice person.'”
Haddish revealed that part of the reason she was so hesitant was that she was friendly with some of her man’s exes.
“I know too many people that dated you, let’s be honest,” she told Colbert, adding, “I didn’t say that, but…”
The couple is very happy together and makes steamy #silhouettechallenge videos for Tik Tok, which Haddish revealed took a lot of negotiation because of Common’s reluctance.
“I was like, ‘Look! Every time you ask me to do something, I do it, and I don’t make no money. I’m asking you to do something for me, and every time I do ask you, you get paid. Now, what you gonna do today is this video, or I won’t be doing nothing for you,'” Haddish jokingly shouted. “And he was like, ‘Alright, alright, calm down. I’ll do it.'”
