Comedian, actress, and model Tiffany Haddish is getting a Netflix comedy special and everyone – including comedic icon Mo’Nique is happy about it.
Many discussions have taken place about if Haddish had sealed a Netflix deal, amid Mo’Nique’s recent issues with the streaming service for giving her a “low offer” compared to other legends like #DaveChappelle and #ChrisRock. In said discussions, Mo’Nique went to bat for Black, female comics, specifically for Haddish.

“If I accepted $500,000, what does Tiffany Haddish have coming? If I accept that, what does the black female comedian have coming? Because what they’ll say is, ‘Mo’Nique accepted this and she’s got that.’ So what do they have coming?” said Mo’Nique. Whether you agree or disagree with her, you can’t negate the fact that those who come before others pave a clearer path for the success of future artists.

However, Haddish already signed off on the Netflix deal before her name was ever mentioned. In a tweet, Haddish wrote: “I already got a deal and I signed it way before she [Mo’Nique] said a thing,” Haddish responded. “It’s not legend money but [it’s] enough to take care of my family for a min.” And like real sistas should, Mo’Nique congratulated her.

“You’ve done nothing wrong, my sister. You KEEP SHINING,” she wrote on Twitter. “I am proud of you. You keep doing what [you’re] doing. You are making it better for the next ones.”
