Tiffany Haddish is creating a dating show about women dating homeless men.

In a pre-strike interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Haddish shared the profound significance the topic has on her life.

“I experienced homelessness myself and found that there was a stigma on it that I don’t think should be there,” the comedian said.

While trying to break into the industry, Haddish faced difficulties that led her to sleep in her car as she worked her way through comedy performances to build her reputation. Despite her current success, Haddish’s earlier life was marked by adversity, including a period spent in foster care during her youth.

“Everyone deserves to have someone supporting them and caring for them—not necessarily carrying them all the way,” Haddish added. “It’s really important for people to make sure that they know that because it’s really hard to be homeless. So many people are isolated and living on the streets alone.”

Through her company, She Ready Productions, Haddish’s developmental partnership with Hearst Media Production Group will give rise to two unscripted television projects. In addition to the documentary centered on the themes of love and homelessness, the second program will center around Elliott Connie, a psychotherapist and author, although the specific concept of this show has not yet been disclosed.
