It seems that Common and Tiffany Haddish’s separation was allegedly abrupt and not ‘mutual.’
In a recent interview with The Washington Post, Haddish shared her perspective on the end of what she described as the “healthiest and most enjoyable relationship” she has ever experienced.
“It wasn’t mutual,” Haddish said while revealing that the rapper broke up with her during a phone call. “It was more him saying, ‘I think this relationship has run its course.’ And I was like, ‘Okay. Like you gonna be a 50-year-old single man. Okay?’”
Haddish initially disclosed her relationship with Common in August 2020 during an interview on Jackass star Steve-O’s podcast, “Steve-O’s Wild Ride.” She mentioned being in a relationship, and when asked about Common, she playfully confirmed, “Yeah, we’re twins now.”
She also candidly revealed that their friendship had progressed from a virtual Bumble date to an intimate level, stating quite bluntly, “And then he got tested for everything, I got tested for everything, and yeah, we’ve been f*cking.”
The couple appeared to be in a good place for awhile, and Common even mentioned how much their relationship had contributed to his personal growth. However, he acknowledged that both he and Haddish were occupied with their busy schedules, making it challenging to maintain a relationship.
“I don’t think the love really dispersed. I just think it was like we weren’t feeding the relationship. Neither one of us is gonna stop. We both care about our crafts and what we do,” he explained. “We care about love too and partnership, but I think the energy that has been put into our careers and continuing to want to do the things that we do for ourselves and for the people, it was hard for me to balance all of that and keep the relationship fed.”
