Many doubted TikTok but it looks like the video social media app just proved it’s here to stay. TikTok beat Google as the No. 1 most popular site this year.

After hitting No.7 last year, TikTok has the worldwide pandemic to thank for its popularity. Everyone and seriously everyone has turned to TikTok to keep them entertained for hours! It even beat well-known domains like Amazon, Netflix, and Youtube.

TikTok was founded in 2016 and has been climbing the social media ladder ever since. Mostly popular to the young crowd, millennials and Gen Z’s have pushed the app for so long. Now parents, teachers and even corporate America are all guilty of using the addicting app to pass some time in their long days.

According to Cloudflare, Google and TikTok flipped back and forth in October and November to try and secure the top spot. TikTok took home the top spot overall. It beat Google which is home to Maps, Photos, Books, and News.

The full list follows TikTok, Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, Netflix, YouTube, Twitter, and WhatsApp.

Note, Instagram did NOT make the list this year. It did come in No. 9 last year and has been drifting away from the social media hype amid all the wonky updates over the past several years.

Is it shocking that TikTok has placed top 1? It did hit 1 billion monthly active global users in September.
