Creators on TikTok are sounding the alarm about a potential ban, and a recent viral video is shedding light on the best strategies to prepare. With the threat of TikTok’s removal looming large, content creators are exploring alternatives, but not all options are created equal.

In the video, a TikTok creator breaks down key advice for those panicking over the platform’s uncertain future:

Video:

“Two things you need to know about the TikTok ban,” the creator begins. “One, don’t go to Lemon8. It’s owned by ByteDance too, and it’s set to be banned on January 19th if TikTok goes down.”

This revelation has sparked discussions about the viability of Lemon8, an app that many initially believed could serve as a TikTok substitute. But with its connection to TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, Lemon8 could face the same fate.

The creator then shifts focus to a promising alternative: Fanbase. “Fanbase will automatically import your Instagram posts and your most recent 1,000 TikTok posts,” they explain. “Get an account now as a backup, link it, and pull in those posts. Start using it and tell people to use it, too, because it’s the closest app I’ve found that’s most TikTok-esque.”

While other apps like Clapper have been floated as potential substitutes, the creator points out that none have quite matched TikTok’s unique features. “Clapper is just not quite there,” they note, emphasizing Fanbase as the top option for creators looking to preserve their content and maintain engagement.

The potential TikTok ban has left many creators scrambling to protect their platforms and audience reach. Experts are encouraging users to diversify their social media presence and experiment with emerging apps like Fanbase to ensure they’re not left behind if TikTok disappears.

For now, creators are testing the waters and urging their followers to join them on alternative platforms. If you’re a TikTok user, now’s the time to plan ahead and explore your options.
