TikTok has extended the maximum length of videos to ten minutes, up from three minutes.
This is the second time the video-sharing app has increased the maximum length of videos in less than a year. In July of 2021, the app increased the length from 60 seconds to three minutes.
“We’re always thinking about new ways to bring value to our community and enrich the TikTok experience,” a spokesperson for app said in a statement. “Last year, we introduced longer videos, giving our community more time to create and be entertained on TikTok. Today, we’re excited to start rolling out the ability to upload videos that are up to 10 minutes, which we hope would unleash even more creative possibilities for our creators around the world.”
TikTok’s expansion allows users to longer-form videos as other platforms, such as Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook, have allowed users to create short-form videos. The app has become very popular, with 1 billion active monthly users.
Social media consultant Matt Navarra was the first to report TikTok’s new 10-minute videos. He shared an account update message from TikTok in a tweet.
“Upload longer videos: Upload videos up to 10 minutes long from your device,” the update read.
