Social media went wild after reports claimed Elon Musk was planning to buy TikTok.
With TikTok facing a possible ban on January 19, people started speculating that Musk’s, X, might step in to purchase it if its parent company, ByteDance, is forced to sell its U.S. operations.
TikTok users didn’t take the news lightly. The idea of Musk owning the app sparked heated debates, with many worried he’d shake things up the way he did with X. But before things got too crazy, TikTok shut down the rumors, calling the reports “pure fiction.”
Interestingly, Elon Musk wasn’t the only one interested in TikTok.
Reports surfaced that Meek Mill and Mr. Beast also tried to put in bids to buy the app.
But for now, it looks like ByteDance isn’t selling, and TikTok says Chinese officials would prefer the video-sharing platform to remain under ByteDance’s ownership.
