TikTok is looking to pay creators to create new filters and effects for the platform.
On Tuesday, the company launched its $6 million fund called TikTok’s Effect Creator Rewards, which will compensate users who create “high-performing effects.”
According to a TikTok blog post, creators would be paid based on “the community’s engagement with their effects.”
Within 90 days of being released, creators will receive $700 for each effect that has been used in 500,000 different videos. After the first 500,000 videos are released within the same 90 days, users can earn an additional $140 for every 100,000 videos.
Last year, TikTok launched Effect House to allow users to create, publish and share their effects.
But, some creators are hoping to be better recognized for their work.
“Literally, when TikTok becomes more successful, TikTokers become less successful,” said YouTube and TikTok star Hank Green.
Earlier this month, TikTok said the Creativity Program Beta remains “in its early stages,” noting the platform is “continuously exploring ways to improve the experience for our creator community and the way creators are rewarded.”
