Rudy Gobert, the Minnesota Timberwolves star, reportedly ended his relationship with his pregnant girlfriend, Julia Bonilla, and asked her and their one-year-old son, Romeo, to leave his home just as the NBA playoffs began.
According to TMZ Sports, the split occurred shortly after Gobert was seen embracing Julia and Romeo at the Timberwolves’ regular season finale on April 13th.
“I’m going through one of the most painful times in my life, feeling isolated, far from my family and friends,” Julia shared in a now-private Instagram story. “I considered Rudy the love of my life. I left everything for him. I gave him a child and poured my heart into our relationship.”
Their relationship became public in February 2024, but reports indicate they began dating in 2023 and welcomed Romeo during last year’s playoff series against Denver. Julia is currently pregnant with their second child.
“When everyone criticized him and insulted him, I stood by him, always putting him first and choosing him, always,” she added. “Despite how I have been treated, I choose to protect his name for the sake of my children.”
While Gobert confirmed the breakup, he emphasized he intends to “keep supporting the well-being of all the people that I care about.” He also dismissed some of the circulating information as “inaccurate.”
“I am a mom and I must prioritize my health and well-being,” Julia concluded. “Thank you for respecting my privacy during this challenging time.”
TMZ reports she hopes to return to France, but custody discussions are ongoing.
