R. Kelly is now under criminal investigation.
“Surviving R. Kelly,” the six-part docu-series that details Kelly’s physical and sexual violence towards women over the years has sparked a criminal investigation. Aol.com reports that investigators from the Fulton County District Attorney’s office are looking into the incidents documented in the series and have reached out to several of the victims.
Kelly is accused of taking advantage of women, having a cult, holding women hostage and other forms of sexual and physical abuse. Investigators have reached out to Asante McGee, one of the women who allegedly escaped R. Kelly’s home, TMZ reports. Chief investigator Cynthia Nwokocha also contacted Joycelyn Savage’s family; the family has been fully cooperative.
In addition, TMZ reports investigators have been trying to connect with other others who were living in Kelly’s former Atlanta home, and are interested in any knowledge of what happened inside the home. Reports show investigators’ voicemails have been bombarded with callers since the airing of the documentary.
