As the “Martin Reunion” nears closer, Tisha Campbell is opening up about how she and Martin Lawrence resolved their past issues to bring the project to life.
The actress sat down with CBS Mornings, where she expressed her excitement about the special.
“It was amazing just being with everybody. We were finishing each other’s sentences. We were joking. We were laughing. It was like being on set again,” Campbell gloated over the reunion. Gayle King chimed in and asked Campbell how she overcame the tension with Lawrence, which included a January 1997 sexual harassment lawsuit against the “Bad Boys” actor. By April 1997, the case was settled out of court. In a 2020 interview with GQ, Lawrence called the suit “bullsh**” and claims any instances of sexual harassment “just didn’t happen.” Though Campbell was not happy with his comments, she says forgiveness had taken place.
“We worked really hard to reconnect, to forgive. This reunion is about a celebration of everything that we did, everything that we accomplished, and our growth as human beings. And so we concentrated mostly on that,” Campbell responded to King.
Despite the many hardships over the years, the 53-year-old says she’s the “happiest I’ve ever been.”
The “Martin Reunion” will premiere on Thursday, June 16th, on BET+.
