People have once again been captivated by the story of the Titanic in the wake of the OceanGate submersible tragedy. The submersible set out to visit the doomed ship’s wreckage site before disappearing and capturing the nation’s attention.

The movie was directed by James Cameron, who has been making the rounds discussing his own experiences diving to the Titanic wreck, and stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. The movie follows the fictitious love story between characters Jack Dawson and Rose Dewitt Bukater.

The submersible lost contact with its support crew shortly after it descended toward the Titanic on Sunday. A debris field located near the wreckage site indicated the sub had suffered a catastrophic event, killing everyone onboard.
