The Chrisleys must report to federal prisons next week after their bail application was denied.
In November, a jury convicted the Chrisley Knows Best stars of multimillion-dollar bank fraud and tax evasion, sending them to prison for 19 years combined.
According to reports, on Jan 17, Todd, 53, will begin serving a 12-year sentence at Federal Prison Camp Pensacola, while Julie, 50, will serve her seven-year sentence at Federal Correctional Institution and Federal Prison Camp Marianna, located about two-and-a-half hours away from Todd.
Court records show that the couple’s motion for bail pending appeal and their request for an extension of 21 days was denied on Tuesday.
According to one legal expert, the prisons that the Chrisleys will be reporting to are “no country club.”
Veteran defense attorney Paul Cambria said that Julie will be headed to a camp, which is “still confinement,” adding that a “camp is the best place to be.”
“They’re almost like a college dormitory situation. There’s usually no fences or barbed wire or things like that. There’s obviously monitors and cameras and so on, but it is a fairly relaxed atmosphere,” he said.
“The camps are basically for white collar, non-violent — a lot of dollars-and-cents kind of crimes,” said Cambria, “things where violence is not involved.” The population typically consists of “business people, professionals, lawyers, doctors, dentists, and accountants,” he added.
According to the Bureau of Prisons, the FPC Pensacola is a 23-acre, male-only, minimum-security prison.
The U.S. Attorney for the North District of Georgia said each would serve three years of supervised release after serving their prison sentences.
The Chrisley’s attorney, Alex Little of Burr & Forman LLP, said, “Their trial was marred by serious and repeated errors, including the government lying to jurors about what taxes the couple paid. Based on these issues, we are optimistic about the road ahead.”
