Forty-six tons of Lean Cuisine meals have been recalled because of complaints about plastic pieces in the products. Nestle believes the plastic pieces come from a conveyor belt that broke while producing mashed potatoes. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Services announced that approximately 92,206 pounds could be contaminated with hard plastic.
The recalled meals are the 8 5/8-ounce carton trays of baked chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. The lot code for the products is 0246595911, October 2021 for the best before date, and EST. P-9018 establishment number, which is located on the side of the packaging near the lot number.
The FSIS advised throwing away the food or taking it back to where it was purchased.
