Tony Rock Voices Frustration Over Brother Chris Rock Never Casting Him in His Movies [Video]

Actor Tony Rock is shedding some light on his relationship with his comedian brother, Chris Rock.

In a candid interview with “Live From The Green Room,” Tony opened up about their strained brotherhood after host Aries Spears questioned why he never sees Tony star in any of Chris’ films.

“I am going to try to explain to you guys. I am not saying it is going to make sense but my brother (…) he’s a businessman when it comes to movies. So, Martin (Lawrence) is bigger than me,” Tony said, referring to Chris’s film “Death At A Funeral” starring the “Bad Boys” actor. “I need to sell this movie. Tony is my brother, yes…but him and Martin pushed the needle more.”

Additionally, Tony recalled a particular moment that left him disappointed by his brother. He recalled being offered a role in Chris’s “Top Five” film, a movie he wrote and directed. According to Tony, Chris told him that he would star in the film, which would take place in New York. Of course, Tony was excited to participate in the movie and even told his team that he’d put his comedy tour on hold once he got the call.

“When he did the movie ‘Top Five,’ I was on tour,” Tony recalled. “I came home for a week. We hadn’t seen each other in a while, and we don’t talk a lot, but since the divorce, we talk more. But, he was in his space where we weren’t really talking a lot.”

He continued, “I walk in the Comedy Cellar, and he’s there.  He’s at the table with Colin and all of the guys. I go over to say, ‘What’s up?’ and he goes, ‘Aye, we got a movie, man, put you in it.’ I did not ask for anything.”

However, that call never came. Weeks passed, and despite eagerly waiting for the confirmation, Tony heard nothing about the role. Instead, he began receiving calls from mutual friends and industry peers asking why he wasn’t on set. Confused and worried, Tony later learned that production had already started filming the movie. But the worst part of the situation was Tony getting an invite to the wrap-up party two months later to celebrate the completion of the movie.

“I started getting calls like ‘I’m on set, where you at?’ Oh, sh*t, I didn’t get a phone call,” he added. “Two months in, I get a f*cking phone call: ‘Yo, you at the wrap party? We here.’ That sh*t crushed me.”

While the news comes as a surprise, it’s important to note that both actors and comedians have made significant strides in their careers. Chris has not yet responded to Tony’s account of things.
