Mother’s Day is a special 24-hour period that allows individuals to celebrate the women in their life that have played a pivotal role since birth, the mother. Here is a list of the top 5 songs that will be forever special on Mother’s Day.
At number 5 is Mama by The Dream.

The Dream mourned the loss of his dearly departed mother in his song “Mama.” In the song, the music producer reminisced on his memories of his mother and his dreams of bringing her back to life. In the heartfelt song, The Dream sang:
“It was you that broke me through. You were everything I ever knew. If I could bring you back, I’d do it in a split second, no if, ands or buts”.
At number 4 is Hey Mama by Kanye West.
Kanye West was very close to his mother, Donda West, before her unfortunate passing in 2007. Two years prior, West wrote, “Hey Mama,” to express his gratitude to his mother, who stopped her career to become West’s manager. In the song, West notes:
“See you’re unbreakable, unmistakable, highly capable lady that’s makin’ loot. A livin’ legend too, just look at what heaven do. Send us an angel, and I thank you.”

At number 2 is Dear Mama by 2Pac.
“Dear Mama” was a tribute from Tupac Shakur to his mother, Afeni Shakur. In the song, the rapper highlights his mother’s courage despite the hardship faced during his childhood hardship and her past struggles. Throughout the song, Tupac made sure that his mother knew she was appreciated. Tupac rapped:
“And there’s no way I can pay you back, but my plan is to show you that I understand: you are appreciated.”
At number 1 is A Song for Mama by Boyz II Men.
Written and produced by Babyface, “A Song for Mama” has become a national anthem for women on Mother’s Day. The song was even featured in the 1997 film Soul Food. The soulful ballad is about showing appreciation, admiration, and love to a mother for all that she has done. The song reminds mothers that no one can do their job other than them.
