You know it’s not officially Christmas until you break out some of your all-time favorite Christmas albums. Music to set the mood while you wrap the presents, trim the tree, or scramble for last-minute Xmas gifts for the ones you love. Here are some of our favorite Christmas albums to help you get in the holiday spirit.
James Brown: “Funky Christmas”- You can always count on the Godfather of Soul to bring in the funk no matter what time of year it is, and Christmas is no different. Favorite Track: “Santa Claus, Go Straight To the Ghetto”
Boyz II Men: “Christmas Interpretations”- The harmonies of Nathan, Michael, Shawn, and Wanya on this classic R &B Christmas album will be sure to set the mood for a romantic Christmas. Favorite Track: “Let it, Snow.”
Jackson 5: “Christmas Album”- This album is definitely a classic Christmas Album that you may want to break out any time of year. Christmas cheer provided by the Jackson 5: Favorite Track: “Up On The House Top.”
Nat King Cole: “The Magic of Christmas”-
The entire album provides legendary versions of classics like “Deck the Halls” and “Silent Night,” but it’s Nat King Cole’s rendition of “The Christmas Song” that is the standard to set the tone for a festive Christmas season.
The Temptations: “Christmas Card”- Play  this album for some of the most soulful renditions of some of your favorite Christmas classics: Favorite Track: ” Silent Night.”
Mariah Carey: “Merry Christmas”- Mariah’s Christmas album “Merry Christmas” is a classic that is still relevant to this day. The song is currently the number one song in the country 25 years after its debut. Favorite Track: “All I Want For Christmas”
Phil Spector: “A Christmas Gift For You”- Before he became infamous, Phil Spector was hands down one of the most prolific music producers of all time, and his classic Christmas album shows why his  “Wall of Sound” was also the sound of a generation. Favorite Track: Darlene Love’s  “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)”
Ella Fitzgerald: “Ella Wishes You A Swinging Christmas”
One of the most talented, soulful, and respected jazz singers delivered one of the best Christmas albums of all time, sure to jazz up your holiday celebration. Favorite Track: “Jingle Bells”
Various Artists: “A Motown Christmas”
What Christmas without a little Motown magic, Â this album contains classics like Marvin Gaye’s “Christmas In the City” and the Jackson 5’s cover of “Frosty The Snowman.” Favorite Track: Stevie Wonder’s “Someday At Christmas”
Various Artists: “LaFace Family Christmas”
Super producers L.A. Reid & BabyFace took their iconic label lineup and put together a classic Christmas album. Including Outkast “Player’s Ball.” Favorite Track: TLC’s “Sleigh Ride”
Various Artists: “A Very Special Christmas”
In 1987, Jimmy Iovine put together this all-star Christmas album to benefit the Special Olympics, calling some of the biggest stars of the era like Whitney Houston, Madonna, and Bon Jovi. The biggest hit came from rap music’s biggest stars of the time, RUN DMC. Favorite Track: “Christmas In Hollis”
