The advertisement industry’s favorite day of the year is upon us, Super Bowl Sunday. So brands put together some of the most over the top and hilarious commercials to keep sports viewers entertained throughout the big game. Looking back, there have been some memorable Super Bowl commercials, so before we delight in what Super Bowl LV will give us this year, let’s take a look at five past favs.
Pepsi: Your Cheatin’ Heart (1996)
A delivery guy pays the price for disloyalty against Coke by opening the cooler to grab a Pepsi. The black and white commercial featured the song “You Cheatin’ Heart” by Hank Williams.
Budweiser: Whassup? (1999)
Although this was not the first Whassup ad, which was developed after being tested during Monday Night Football, but this epic commercial featuring two guys picking up the phone while watching the game and sipping Budweiser when another friend enters the room to create the montage of “Whasssssuuupppp” all over the phone lines. Corny now, but that was funny as hell back in the day!
E-Trade: Talking Baby (2008)
Remember the talking baby that put us up on game about trading with E-Trade. This commercial was such a great campaign for the company, and the ‘talking baby’ ended up appearing in six consecutive Super Bowl games.

Old Spice: The Man Your Man Could Smell Like (2010)
Rest assured, we’ll be seeing another epic Old Spice commercial this year. They’ve been killing it with marketing every championship game day!
Snickers: Betty White (2010)
Betty White! This icon’s role in the Snickers commercial was nothing short of memorable… she gets tackled while playing football. But of course, it turned out to be the hangry teammate needing a bite of the popular candy bar. This commercial introduces Snicker’s “You’re not you when you’re hungry” tagline, which developed into a string of memorable commercials.
