Torrei Hart Says Katt Williams Is Not Her Opp; “We’ve Known Each Other For 20 Years” [Video]

Torrei Hart is speaking out after receiving backlash for touring with Katt Williams.

The comedienne sat down with the “Pettyish” podcast recently, where she addressed working with Williams, which was announced after his “Club Shay Shay” interview. According to Torrei, she shouldn’t be crucified for touring with Williams because the arrangement is strictly business, and they’ve gone on the road together before. 

“We’re friends… We’ve known each other for 20 years. Let’s not get it twisted. He’s put me on shows before. This is not the first time,” Torrei explained. 

Williams broke the internet with his “Club Shay Shay” interview, where he went after Kevin Hart. He claimed the comedian was an “industry plant” who was positioned to succeed in Hollywood without putting in the work. While his comments shocked some, the men have taken jabs at one another for years, which is why some called Torrei “unloyal” for working with Williams, the “opp.”

Elsewhere in the conversation, Hart explained why she still uses her marital last name. Before saying “I do” with Kevin, her last name was Skipper. Torrei revealing this on the pod prompted laughter, which goes into why she chose to keep Hart for her work in entertainment.

“You know how many jokes got cracked on me growing up being ‘Torrei Skipper?'” she laughed. Torrei also added that she helped build the Hart brand back when Kevin was an upcoming comedian. Therefore, she’s earned her name.  

Nevertheless, Kevin has shown support for Torrei and the tour, so it seems all is well.
