Tory Lanez’s alleged prison attacker is now speaking out, claiming it all started over a deadly rumor.
Santino Casio, who’s doing life for murder, told TMZ he stabbed the rapper 14 times because he believed Lanez was out to get him. Casio says the prison rumor mill had him thinking there was a bounty on his head, and when he saw a lump in Lanez’s pocket, he feared it was a weapon.
“I wasn’t trying to kill Tory,” Casio said, claiming he reacted out of panic and even suffered a stab wound to the leg himself during the scuffle.
Casio added that he and Lanez had no beef before the incident, describing their previous interactions as “cordial.”
Lanez’s camp isn’t buying it. “The recent attempt on his life was savage and ferocious,” his team said, calling Casio’s explanation an “absurd fabrication.”
The 10-year inmate, convicted of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020, was stabbed in the back, torso, head, and face. He suffered collapsed lungs and was placed on a breathing machine, but is now off it and in recovery.
“Tory was stabbed 14 times,” his team posted on Instagram. “Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits, and deeply thankful to God.”
California prison officials confirmed the May 12th attack, saying emergency aid was rendered quickly and Lanez was taken to a hospital. He has now been transferred to a new facility for safety.
