Tory Lanez went on Instagram live and gave details about him and Megan Thee Stallion’s tragic night.
On Tuesday night, Lanez hopped on Instagram live for the first time since he was accused of shooting the Houston Hottie. In the live, the rapper never said that he didn’t shoot at Meg but instead explained why he feels her story doesn’t make sense. He also questioned why Meg wouldn’t tell the police on him if her life was in danger despite Meg having already said that she wanted to protect Lanez as a Black man against potential police brutality. In short: he said the allegations made against him are “not true.”
Lanez cited TMZ’s initial report that confirmed he was arrested in Los Angeles for possession of a weapon. Megan, her friend, and Lanez’s bodyguard were all reportedly riding together just before Lanez was arrested. Complex Media reports that the first set of reports did not mention that gunshot wounds injured Megan. The rapper said that he wanted to speak out prior to all the news circulation but said that he was told not to.
“Two days after that, I get a call from Roc Nation that says, ‘Yo, we heard you were gonna to make a statement about what happened, and it’d be in your best interest if you don’t make that statement,'” he said. “And I’m like, OK? I don’t understand the issue of me telling my fans, like, ‘Yo, it’s not that serious of a deal …'” He also mentioned subsequent reports that Megan was treated for injuries that were believed to have been caused by shattered glass.
“Nobody has ever said she got shot,” Lanez said, referring to early reports. More than a week later, Megan shared an Instagram post of her injuries and claimed she had been shot. The Houston rapper said the bullet wounds were “a result of a crime that was committed against me and done with the intention to physically harm me.” Despite his claims, Cedars-Sinai medical records have corroborated Megan’s claim. Doctors reportedly found shrapnel in her hell shortly after the incident, Complex Media reports. However, Lanez did not touch on that fact. In addition, Lanez questioned how Megan would know exactly who shot her if she was walking away from the vehicle.
In the midst of Lanez’s IG statement, Megan tweeted, “This Ni**a genuinely crazy,” seemingly alluding to Lanez. During all the drama, Lanez has allegedly been accused of not caring for and not supporting Black women. He addressed that as well, saying that he has always “showed out for Black women,” adding that he still considers Megan a friend. “… It’s not accurate information. I don’t ever wanna come off like I’m here to bash this girl or I’m here to talk down about this girl or ever be at a place where, like, I’m disrespecting her, because to me, as a person, she’s still my friend,” he said. “No matter what — even if she doesn’t look at me like that — I look at her like she’s still my friend.”
Megan previously told her side of the story after Lanez allegedly told people that he never shot her. Megan ended up taking it into her own hands by setting the record straight from her end. “The police come, I’m scared. All this shit going on with the police? The police is shooting motherfuckers for anything,” she said. “The police was literally killing Black people for no motherfucking reason … You think I’m about to tell the police that we—n***as, us Black people—got a gun in the car? You want me to tell them we got in a gun in a car so they can shoot all of us up? N***a, I’m scared … Why the fuck would I tell [the police] somebody got a gun in this car and this n***a shot me? So I can get shot, you can shot, she can get shot, he can get shot?”
