More information is coming to light about the brutal assault on Tory Lanez this week.
According to Lanez’s father, Sonstar Peterson, prison officials had to act quickly after the rapper was stabbed by fellow inmate Santino Casio. Lanez was reportedly in serious condition and required immediate airlift to a hospital.
“All he knows is that he couldn’t breathe. He could hardly speak,” said Peterson at a press conference. “Upon which the officer turned around and looked at him and said, ‘No, we got to take him. He has to be airlifted.’ And thankfully, to God be the glory, he was airlifted. I want to report to you that I am very thankful to all of the attending nurses, doctors in that facility. They have done an amazing job in their professional capacity.”
Lanez reportedly suffered 14 stab wounds and two collapsed lungs during the attack. He remains hospitalized in Bakersfield. Casio, who is serving a life sentence for murder, has been identified as the sole suspect. A motive for the violent incident has not been revealed.
Meanwhile, Lanez’s legal team is pursuing a new effort to overturn his conviction in the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. In a statement Wednesday, attorneys for Lanez claimed to have “new evidence” pointing to Kelsey Nicole, Megan’s former friend, as the actual shooter.
Lanez, known for hits like “Say It,” is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence related to the incident.
